Pitt Beats WVU 13-9

This loss is as disappointing as the one for the National Championship when we lost to Notre Dame. I feel completely drained and I just want to lay down and go to sleep.

It looked like Pitt was just better prepared, but I suspect that was because the Pitt defense played so well compared to how WVU’s offense played. Pitt outplayed them. And those three questionable calls by the refs at the end, they looked like some home cooking by the refs even for this fan. I hope not, but if it looks like a duck and sounds like a duck…

I felt sorry for Coach Rodriguez after the game, you could tell, he just wanted to lay down for a bit to, but he had to answer stupid questions from reporters.

Is West Virginia the New Miami?

Read an interesting article on the SportsbyBrooks site that asked, “West Va. Taking Um’s Place In Big East Police Lineup?” It talks about all of the trouble some of the recent Mountaineers have had lately, most recently, Quincy Wilson was arrested in Huntington, WV, just this past weekend.

Running back Quincy Wilson was arrested early Sunday morning outside a bar in Huntington, W.Va., and friends said he was attending a wedding party at the bar when police asked several people to leave the area.

Wilson, the bride and the groom were among those arrested.

The former West Virginia University standout was one of 14 people who refused to follow police commands to disperse around 3 a.m. Sunday, said Lt. Hank Dial with the Huntington police department.

Dial said officers were trying to break up the crowd out of safety concerns. Source: Bengals Player Arrested Outside West Virginia Bar

Chris Henry has been arrested many times since he has been in the NFL,

This is a roundabout way of saying that Bengals wide receiver Chris Henry got arrested again. The charge this time? Providing alcohol for three underage women in a hotel room in April; one was 18, one was 16, one was 15. It got more complicated after that, too; the 18-year-old accused Henry of raping her. A police investigation ended with the woman confessing the sex with consensual, and a week later, the woman was picked up for prostitution. So she’s almost as busy a couple of months as Henry.

So, if you’re keeping tabs, that’s a marijuana possession charge, an illegal gun-possession charge, a DUI and now providing liquor to a minor. Since December. NFL players have such short careers; it’s important to pack in as much as you can, while you can. Source: Chris Henry Keeps Himself Busy

And, of course, Pacman Jones has been making a show of himself,

SPORTING NEWS RADIO host Steve Cofield, citing Las Vegas sources, reported on the network this afternoon that Tennessee Titans defensive back Pacman Jones was allegedly at the center of a melee at the Las Vegas strip club Minxx last night, which left three people wounded by gunfire - two in critical condition.

Cofield noted that after Jones and his group left the club, there were allegedly multiple gunshots from automatic weapons coming from Jones’ entourage, resulting in two bouncers being shot (both are in critical condition) and a woman also getting hit with the gunfire (condition unknown). Looks bad so far doesn’t it? I don’t think these three are representative of the WVU Mountaineers, or is it just because I haven’t seen them in any big fights on TV, or even heard about any? I remember the Miami Hurricanes and the shameful ways they acted on the field, remember when they came out in fatigues and got into that big fight in the Orange Bowl? How about this big ruckus with Florida International University?

I don’t think WVU is the new Miami, but it is going to take more than my opinion to change other peoples minds if our graduates keep acting this way.

Spell Checking Gone Wild

From the, who let an intern spell check this department.

From the Mediabistro This is hilarious. I guess this means I have an African-American Dodge Ram and my wife has an African-American Town and Country.

A Yankees Fact of the day that appears on the August 2 page of the team’s desktop calendar, twice substitutes the phrase “African-American” where the word “black” should be.

It says the Yankees during the ’99 season “wore a African-American number 5 on their left sleeve” in memory of Joe DiMaggio, and it also says that they “wore a African-American armband” in memory of “Catfish” Hunter.
